Abstract: This paper discusses the Hoabinhian pebble tool industries of Viet Nam, together with a number of antecedent industries focused on flake tool production in Viet Nam, Thailand and southern China. It is suggested that Pleistocene to Holocene climatic change in the tropics might have correlated with some of the observed changes in stone tool morphology.
