Abstract: |

The Liang Bua skull (LB1) has been analysed in a variety of ways. The recent study by Argue et al. (2006) uses Howells global series of craniometric data in a multivariate analysis. The paper makes several important assumptions - about time, about sexing, about geography and about the appropriateness of the small number of measurements used in their analysis. They also present only selected results of multivariate analyses, presumably those that allow clearest separation of LB1 from other skulls.
