Abstract: |
The potential of archaeological resins to address questions of resource use and chronology has been investigated. Botanically identified modern plant resins from eight genera within five families were analysed to elucidate their higher terpenoid composition, using gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. This provided a basis against which to compare potentially resinous deposits on ceramics from eleven prehistoric sites on the mainland and three sites in insular Southeast Asia
