Abstract: December 1960. Excavations of the Bronze Age burial ground of Thieu-duong near the city of Thanh-hoa (Ch. III, 4) [SAA, Vol. VII, No. 3] are still in progress. But a group of Vietnamese archeologists associated with Hanoi University and the Institute of the History of Vietnam has been commissioned to journey for ten days into the mountain province of Hoa-binh, west of Hanoi, to seek, survey, and make reconnaissance digs in the numerous paleolithic caves there (Tran-quoc-Vuong, 1963). Those who go are Tran-quoc-Vuong, Ha-van-Tan, Nguyen-dong-Chi, Trinh Nhu, Phan-dai-Doan, and Nguyen-duc-Nghinh. I take part in this small expedition as consultant.
