Title: Vietnam in primeval times. Part 1

Abstract: Vietnam is a land of ancient and distinctive culture, which was settled by primitive men hundreds of thousands of years ago, at the very beginning of the Paleolithic. Relics of the primeval past of Vietnam have long attracted the attention of archeologists. The Hoa-binh culture, the Bac-son culture, the shouldered-axe culture, and other groups of archeological relics, without a study of which no understanding of the early stage of world history is possible, are well known. However, the information on the primeval archeology of Vietnam has been summarized to only a negligible degree, and it is hardly treated anywhere in Russian except in the valuable but brief article by S. A. Semenov (1950).
