Abstract: English summary on page 48 as follows: Based on the technical and typological analysis of edge - ground stone axes in Hoa Binh culture, as comporing them with those of similar types in other regions, the author has drawn the following conlclusions: 1 - The intermediary funtion if Hoa Binh tools in making of bamboo and woodem tools is the most important factor, leading to early appearance of edge - ground axes in Hoa Binh culture. 2 - Most of edge - ground axes in Hoa Binh culture are little processed, especially in early Hoabinhian: Almost of the natural pebble without processing. 3 - The date of earliest edge - ground axes in hoabinh culture is about 20000 years BP. 4 - The continuous devepment of edge - ground axes from the Hoabinh culture to Bacson culture was distinguished by the more precise processing.
