Abstract: The growing up in strength of various archaeological institutions in Vietnam contributes greatly in researches and protection of archaeological heritages of the country in recent years. Institute of Archaeology of VASS is the major unit which responds to several important projects. This paper refers to some major projects during 2013-2016, including the discovery of early Palaeolithic sites in An Khe (Gia Lai province)
projects conducted for re-evaluation of the archaeological sites of Metal Age in the northern provinces and the Dong Nai province of Vietnam
Archaeological researches at the World Heritage sites in Vietnam
and the effort of IA in collaboration with international institutions and researchers for the development of Underwater Archaeology in Vietnam. Current challenges and perspectives in academic researches, management and protection of archaeological sites are also referred to.
