Title: The application of environmental sciences in archaeological research
Date: 1982

Abstract: Archaeological research should also deal with the reconstruction of prehistoric human environment, because man always lives and develops his culture in a certain environment. Therefore, archaeology needs to apply environmental sciences in order to understand man's abiotic and biotic paleo-environment. By considering environmental factors we could better comprehend the biological man and his work, since environment influences man, and the material and energy he exploits. Various objects of archaeological studies are in fact the results of interaction of man and his environment through time. With these problems in view, there is a urgent need for a bold reorientation in all educational components of archaeology in Indonesia.
