Abstract: English summary on page 41 as follows: At Ban Phu - a village of Thai people in Muong Thanh, Lai Chau province - existed vestiges of an ancient citadel built by Hoang Cong Chat in the middle of the 18th century. Ban Phu citadel was about 2900 m² wide with 5 irregular sides. its walls were made of earth with 5m height and 4-6 m thick
the surrounding trench was 4-5 m wide and 10 m deep. The citadel was divided into 2 parts: The outside one was soldiers settlements, stores, elephan cages ... the inside was hoang Cong Chat and other habitation officers. The Ban Phu citadel had been built in 1758 and existed till 1769. In ancient writings, the Ban Phu citadel was incorrectly called under the name of Tam Van citadel (Xam Mun), built by of Thai people long ago before Hoang Cong Chat's insurgents arrived in Muong Thanh.
