Abstract: Based on the excavation of the Wadian site and referring to archaeological studies in the Ying River Valley, this paper analyses settlement patterns during the Henan Longshan and early Xia periods. Through this analysis, this paper attempts to trace the processes of cultural change in this area and to search for the remains of the early Xia, in order to understand the general pattern of the origins of Chinese civilization.
