Elemental analysis is used to provenance ancient glass and to reconstruct ancient trade routes. In Southeast Asia, very little is known about late glass that appears mostly in the form of vessel fragments at sites dated after the 8th c. AD. Indeed, only glass vessel fragments from Sumatra (9th to 16th c. AD) were studied (Edwards McKinnon and Brill, 1987
Dussubieux, 2009). This study of glass vessel fragments and also of beads from Singapore dated from the 14th AD is bringing new insights in the glass trade in Southeast Asia for this period.
