Abstract:
Some thirty sites attributed to the Biên Hô culture have recently been tested and excavated in the provinces of Gialai, Kontum, and Daclac). The stone tools found there consist mainly of axes. adzes with sloping shoulders and resharpening of the edges, wholly polished in the shape of "buffalo teeth". Pottery is made on the wheel, decorated in thin cord marks, printed small rounds, and painted in red. No copper remains have been found. In comparison with the archaeological cultures in the Dông Nai Basin, the stone tools and pottery of the Biên Hô culture are different, but closer to those found in central Viêt Nam. It is suggested that the Biên Hô Culture is typical of the late Neolithic Culture in the Central Highlands of Viêt Nam.
