Abstract: | Upstream from Palembang, in the district of Tanah Abang, remains of a number of brick temples have recently been cleared and are in the process of being restored. The temple of Bumiayu I is described here, together with the Saivite statuary found on the site. Despite some similarities with late Central Javanese architectural and stylistic features, it is concluded that the site appears to date from the 12th-13th century A.D. |
