Abstract:	Of the numerous Buddhist festivals in Burma, the Phaungtaw-ū Pwe (or 'Phaungtaw-ū Festival') is among the most famous. I would like to say a few words on its origins and how the Buddhist religion, or 'Buddha Sāsanā', came to Burma, particularly this part of Burma, the Shan States. To Burma and Thailand the term 'Buddha Sāsanā' can only mean the Theravāda Sāsanā or simply the 'Sāsanā'.
