Abstract: This paper presents the results of the petrographic analysis of a small sample of sherds from the island of Bohol. Both archaeological and ethnographic samples were analyzed to determine if similar technologies or clay sources were used in the past and/or among present day potters. The aim of this study is to assess the usefulness of using petrographic analysis and comparative ethnographic data to help us understand early pottery production and trade in the region.
