Abstract: The Thai-French Prehistoric project has been working in Northern Thailand since 1985. Obluang was excavated and surveys undertaken in the Nan and Ping River valleys. In the latter the Mesolithic site of Ban Sarapi is large and of major importance. Smaller sites, similar to Obluang were found around Hot. Six sites, dating from the Mesolithic to Iron Age, were found near Uttaradit and two metal age sites near Si Satchanalai. The density of sites indicates considerable prehistoric occupation.
